Saturday's Head of the Potomac Race Cancelled

Oct. 1, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC -- The GW Rowing squads will have to wait another three weeks to open their fall season as the Head of the Potomac race scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2 has been cancelled.

The Potomac Boat Club, which administers the race, announced Friday that recent rains and flooding have rendered the Potomac River race course unsafe for rowing competition due to high rivers levels and debris floating in the water.

Next up for the Colonials men's and women's rowing teams is the Head of the Charles race in Boston on Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 23-24.
