Shanahan, a 2015 graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, is a former collegiate sailing star who excelled at all sailing disciplines as a collegian, including singlehanded, match race, coed and women’s formats.
"We are thrilled to have Catherine Shanahan joining GW Sailing as Assistant Coach,” said Pearce. “Catherine has sailed at the highest level as an ICSA competitor, including competing in nine national championship regattas during her four years at St. Mary's. She is an extremely versatile sailor who is excellent both as a skipper and a crew, and she has proven leadership ability as a two-time captain of the St. Mary's team.
