The GW sailing team competed in a pair of regattas over the weekend, entering two teams at the Kings Point Dinghy Open and finishing fifth and eighth, while also coming in sixth at the Susan Rogers Memorial at Cornell.

GW sent a contingent of nine sailors to the KP Dinghy Open, a 19-team conference regatta held at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Racing for Colonials 1, skipper Derek Poon-Tip and crews Connor West and Shira Golub took sixth in A Division, while skipper Wade Wagner and crew Belle Strachan also took sixth in B Division, to give GW a fifth place overall finish.

In Colonials 2, skipper Sam White and crew Alexandra Fayer finished eighth in A Division, and in B Division skipper Colin Kennedy and crew Matt Homa also came in eighth place.

At the Susan Rogers ’75 Memorial at Cornell, skipper Aitana Mendiguren and crew Emma Mendenhall teamed up for a fourth-place finish in A Division to help lead GW to a fifth-place showing in the 14-team interconference field. Skipper Sarah Alexander and crews Sarah Noyes and Marie Line took ninth in B Division.

GW returns to the water for a trio of regattas this coming weekend: the MAISA Men’s Singlehanded Carl Van Duyne Trophy, the Navy Fall Women’s Interconference and the Storm Trysail Offshore Regatta.
