Four Sailors Named to 2016-17 ICSA All-Academic Team
Golub, Kennedy, Strachan and White recognized for academic and athletic excellence
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Four GW sailors have been recognized for their outstanding performance in competition and the classroom by being named to the 2016-17 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) All-Academic Team.
Shira Golub, a junior majoring in political science; Colin Kennedy, a senior who majored in mechanical engineering; Belle Strachan, a junior who is majoring in marketing; and junior Sam White, an economics major, were recognized.
The team was selected by a seven-person committee comprised of representatives from conferences in the ICSA who evaluated the achievements of nominated sailors in both academics and competition. The criteria for the honorees are that he or she must be a junior or senior, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, and be a starter or key reserve in at least seven university sponsored regattas. Kennedy, who graduated in May, earned the honor for the second straight year.
Golub, Strachan and White are set to begin their senior seasons next month when GW opens its fall slate with five regattas Sept. 9-10.
