Sailing Set for Variety of Regattas
Soenke Jordan competing in MAISA Singlehanded championship; Colonials also headed to women’s, coed and offshore regattas
SETTING SAIL: GW sailing will get an opportunity to sail in a variety of events this weekend as it competes in singlehanded, women’s, coed and offshore regattas.
The Colonials will be looking to lock up a spot in a national championship as Soenke Jordan heads to the Carl Van Duyne at King’s Point, which serves as the MAISA Singlehanded Championship. With a top-four finish, the freshman will earn a spot in the ICSA Singlehanded National Championship in November.
At the Navy Fall Women’s, the Colonials will race in two doublehanded and one singlehanded division, while a coed squad heads to the Arnoff at Hobart & William Smith. Finally, GW will send a team of eight sailors to race in the Intercollegiate Offshore at Larchmont Yacht Club. The unique event features racing in five classes of offshore yachts, which will require GW’s full contingent to sail. Drew Bennett, who will serve as skipper, explains the event in the video below.
