Sailing Heads to Truxtun Umsted Regatta
Eleven Colonials head to the four division event
After three consecutive weekends in which the GW sailing team competed in four different regattas, the Colonials get a relative respite as they head to just one event this weekend, the Truxtun Umsted at Navy.
Still, the Colonials’ depth will be tested as the regatta features four divisions, two of which are doublehanded and two that are singlehanded. A total of 11 Colonials will make the trip to Annapolis, Maryland, to face the interconference field.
Last year the Colonials took sixth place in the 20-team field, and return four sailors who competed in the event. Legault, who is preparing for the ICSA Singlehanded National Championship in November, led the Colonials with a fifth-place finish in D Division a year ago.
