GW Sailing Heads to MAISA Central Fall #2 on Upper Eastern Shore
Colonials to Send Two Teams to Compete on Chester River
Oct. 17, 2013
WASHINGTON - GW sailing will cross the Chesapeake Bay to Chestertown, Md., this weekend for the MAISA Central Fall #2 regatta hosted by Washington College (Md.) on the Chester River.
With GW's spot in the War Memorial MAISA Coed Championship already secure thanks to a third-place finish at the South Fall #1 two weeks ago, second-year Head Coach John Pearce will use the Central #2 to build roster depth.
"Teams from MAISA's Central region will be trying to qualify for the last few berths at the War Memorial. Since we are already qualified, we'll use it is a training event and a good opportunity for younger team members to gain more competition experience," said Coach Pearce.
The Colonials will send two teams and eight sailors to compete - freshmen Brendan Shanahan and Gabriella Malek in A Division and sophomore Benjamin Helfand and freshman Kelly Dong in B Division, and sophomores Jay Spector and Henry Young in A Division and senior Eli Mattson and freshman Gabriella Marki in B Division.
