Colonials of the Week: Sailing’s Brendan Shanahan & Riley Legault
Shanahan and Legault took 10th at ICSA Singlehanded Nationals
Senior Brendan Shanahan and sophomore Riley Legault each took 10th place racing in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Singlehanded National Championships at Texas A&M University at Galveston this past weekend.
Racing against a competitive field that featured a number of Olympians and Olympic prospects, Shanahan took his third consecutive top-10 finish in the event, while Legault earned her second in a row. A native of Tierra Verde, Florida, Shanahan had finished ninth as a sophomore and junior. Legault, a native of Bonita Spring, Florida, took sixth place as a freshman.
The pair will be back in action for GW again this coming weekend, in doublehanded racing. Shanahan will represent the Colonials at the Atlantic Coast Championship at MIT, and Legault will race in the women’s ACC at College of Charleston.
