Men's Squash Wins Conroy Trophy as Fourth Division Champions

WASHINGTON, DC - The GW Men's Squash team won the fourth division title at the CSA Team Championships in Princeton, NJ on Sunday, February 23. After going 7-5 in the regular season, the team was able to string together three victories over the weekend to give themselves the title and be recognized as the Most Improved Squash Team.
The Colonials started on Friday, February 21 with a victory over Northwestern, 6-3. Freshman Dhruv Singh (Jaipur, India/Mayo College) led the way at the number one slot with a 9-2, 9-0, 9-1 win. Senior Matt Navarro (Charleston, WV/Philips Exeter Academy), junior Frank Hentic (New York, NY/Kent School (CT)), sophomore Jose Mogollen (Bogota, Colombia/Brooks School (MA)) and freshmen Greg Vernick (West Roxbury, MA/Milton Academy) and Michael Greenwald (Brookline, MA/St. Marks) rounded out the scoring for the Colonials.
On day two, the Colonials hammered Vassar, 8-1. Singh was pushed to the limit by Vassar number one, Tim Shea, but he was able to pull out the fifth set, 9-2 and set the tone for the rest of the team. Junior Jake Greenbaum (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Shipley School) and sophomore Samir Patel (Media, PA/Episcopal Academy) contributed with victories on the day.
GW won the Conroy Trophy by defeating Hamilton, 6-3. Singh, Vernick, Navarro and Hentic added their third wins of the tournament, while freshman John Wright (San Salvador, El Salvador) picked up his first win of the weekend.
