Men's Squash Goes Down At #16 Franklin & Marshall, 8-1

LANCASTER, PA - The George Washington University men's squash team opened its 2005-06 season on Saturday by being defeated by number sixteenth-ranked Franklin & Marshall, 8-1.

The Colonials' lone win was registered by senior Tyler Wolas (Boca Raton, FL/Pine Crest) who took his match in four games, 9-7, 9-4, 7-9, 9-5.

GW makes its home debut Friday evening when it hosts Stanford at the Health and Wellness Center. The match gets underway at 7:00 pm.

Results from Saturday's match against Franklin & Marshall:

1. Gregory Vernick retired
2. Benjamin Hoefs lost 9-5, 3-9, 5-9, 5-9
3. Tyler Wolas won 9-7, 9-4, 7-9, 9-5
4. Alex Funk lost 2-9, 1-9, 5-9
