GW Loses To GMU In Both Men's And Women's 159-105 And 153-126 Respectively

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University swimming and diving finished the regular season with two home loses at Smith Center today. The men (0-10) lost to George Mason 159-105 while the women (4-6) lost to the Patriots 153-126. Next up for the Colonials is the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships which will be held in Buffalo, NY February 20-22.

Freshman standout Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) again was a bright spot for GW as she followed Wednesday's record-setting race in the 200-yd backstroke with two more wins today. Moss won the 100-yd backstroke with a time of 59.32 and the 200-yd backstroke with a time of 2:07.03.

The women's team also won the 400-yd freestyle with a time of 3:37.34. Joining Moss on the relay team were Ashley Orchard (Tamarac, FL/Pine Crest), Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Westminster), and Christina Boland (Purcelville, VA/Loudon Valley).

Junior Ruth Dubyel (West Point, NY/James I. O'Neill) won the 100-yd butterfly with a time of 58.14. Fagley, a junior, won the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 5:08.95. Freshman Boland won the 200-yd freestyle with a time of 1:56.06.

On the men's side, freshman Sean Kernan (Virginia Beach, VA/Cape Henry) had a standout performance by winning two races. Kernan took first in the 50-yd and 100-yd freestyle with times of 21.75 and 47.40 respectively. Colonials Sophomore Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock) also scored a win for GW when he took first in the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 4:46.14. The diving competition for the meet was held at George Mason University and junior Robert Stuart (Greenville, DE/Alexis I. DuPont) won the three-meter dive with a score of 258.60.

The Colonials men's team also finished first in the final meet of the day, the 400-yd freestyle relay, which they won with a time of 3:15.92. Kernan and Ferretti were joined on the relay by teamates Andrew De Sorbo (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury) and Tom Roman (Voorheesville, NY/The Peddie School.
