Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to Notre Dame, 150-85
WASHINGTON, DC (Oct. 26) - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish captured 10 out of 13 events to defeat George Washington, 150-85, this afternoon, Oct. 26, at Smith Center. It was GW's first competition of the season after the Potomac Relays, scheduled for Oct. 12, were canceled.
Sophomores Ryan White (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy H.S.) and Andrew De Sorbo (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury) and freshman Tom Roman (Voorheesville, NJ/The Peddie School) all won events for the Colonials. White won the 200-yd freestyle with a time of 1:43.37. White also finished third in the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 4:48.62. De Sorbo claimed the 200-yd individual medley with a time of 1:57.29 and finished second in the 100-yd backstroke with a time of :54.62. Roman, swimming in his first collegiate competition, had a strong showing in winning the 100-yd freestyle with a time of :49.34.
The Colonials return to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 27, as both the men's and women's teams face James Madison at Smith Center. The diving competition begins at 11:00 a.m. with the swimming events beginning at 1:00 p.m.
