Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats La Salle, 154.5-83.5

Final Stats

PHILADELPHIA, PA (Nov. 10) - Sophomore Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Westminster Academy) and freshman Kirsten Rasmuson (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel) won two swimming events apiece and the women's team won 10 out of 13 total events to defeat the La Salle Explorers, 154.5-83.5, this afternoon, Nov. 10, in Philadelphia. The La Salle men's team narrowly defeated GW, 124-116, to keep the Colonials winless in four meets.

Fagley, the Rookie Performer of the Meet at the 2001 Atlantic 10 Championships, captured the 200-yd freestyle with a time of 1:56.78 and the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 5:09.68. Fagley has won both events in each of GW's two meets this season. Rasmuson equalled her strong performance in her collegiate debut against James Madison by swimming to victory in both the 50-yd freestyle and the 200-yd breaststroke. Rasmuson finished the 50-yd freestyle in :25.50 and the 200-yd breaststroke in 2:24.12.

The men's team was lead by freshman Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock) and sophomores Ryan White (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy H.S.) and Andrew De Sorbo (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury), who all won two events apiece. Ferretti won the 1000-yd freestyle with a time of 9:58.44 and the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 4:52.52. White captured both the 100 and 200-yd freestyle with times of :48.35 and 1:45.38. De Sorbo won both the 200-yd individual medley and the 200-yd backstroke. De Sorbo swam a 1:58.44 in the 200-yd IM and a 1:56.74 in the 200-yd backstroke.

Both the men's and women's teams will return to the pool next weekend as they participate in the George Mason Invitational from Friday, Nov. 16 through Sunday, Nov. 18.
