ANNAPOLIS, MD - The George Washington University men's swimming and diving team suffered a 155-82 defeat to Navy Wednesday night at Lejeune Hall.
The Colonials recorded first place finishes in the 50-meter freestyle and 200-meter breaststroke. GW also took the 400-meter freestyle relay in the meet.
Freshman Jeff Glazer (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 24.45 seconds, while teammate Jon Sabin (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield) pulled in right behind him for second place with a finish of 24.89 seconds.
GW placed first, second and third in the 200-meter breaststroke. Junior Mark Adam (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) took the race with a time of 2:25.13, with freshman Mark DeSimone (Stamford, CT/Westhill) finishing second (2:37.55) and senior Bryan Michels (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) taking third (2:37.55).
Sophomore Daniel Mahoney (Oakland, CA/Bishop O'Dowd), senior Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock), sophomore Jeff Cohn (New Orleans, LA/Isadore Newman) and Glazer all combined on the first place time of 3:37.48 in the 400-meter relay.
The Colonials return home Saturday to Charles E. Smith Center Pool as both GW's men's and women's swimming and diving teams meet East Carolina University. The meet begins at 10:00 a.m.
