WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were defeated by East Carolina Saturday afternoon at Charles E. Smith Center Pool. The men fell 130-100 while the women dropped a 155-80 decision.

GW senior Bryan Ferretti (Newton, PA/Council Rock) led the men's team with two individual first place finishes and was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that captured that event's top time.

Ferretti took the 1000-yard freestyle (9:45.24) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:47.11) in the meet. He also swam on the Colonials' 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished first (3:18.07).

Freshmen Jeff Glazer (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) and Jeff Cohn (New Orleans, LA/Isadore Newman) and senior Tom Roman (Voorhesville, NY/The Peddie School) were also part of the relay team.

In the men's 200-yard individual medley, sophomore Dan Mahoney (Oakland, CA/Bishop O'Dowd) (1:59.17) and freshman Andrew Boudreau (Rochester, NH/St. Thomas Aquinas) (2:02.21) finished first and second respectively.

Junior Adam Mark (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) also grabbed a first place finish for the Colonials as his time of 2:08.46 in the 200-yard breaststroke was tops in the event.

Junior Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN / North Central) gave the women's team its only top individual finish as she recorded a time of 2:04.57 in the 200-yard backstroke.

The Colonials placed first in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay. Moss, along with sophomores Shannon Ma (Kennisaw, GA/The Walker School) and Monica Pampell (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque), and freshman Megan Look (Southbury, CT/Hopkins School) all combined on a time of 3:41.76.
