De Sorbo Named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week Contribution to Team's Win Against William and Mary Earns Honors
WASHINGTON, DC (Jan. 23) - George Washington sophomore swimmer Andrew De Sorbo (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury) has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Performer of the Week, the Conference office announced today. This is De Sorbo's first Atlantic 10 honor this season.
De Sorbo helped the Colonials achieve victory on Saturday, January 19 against The College of William and Mary when his relay team captured first and he won two individual events. The winning momentum began during the first swimming event of the day when De Sorbo's 400-yd medley relay team finished first with a time of 3:34.56. De Sorbo's second win of the meet was the 200-yd individual medley which he grabbed in 1:56.42. Finally, De Sorbo finished his successful day when he took first in the 200-yd backstroke with a time of 1:56.78. By the end of the meet, the Colonials men's team raced and dove to first in 11 of 13 events.
De Sorbo and the Colonials will return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 26 at George Mason, when they compete against the George Mason Patriots and St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
