Jan. 31, 2005

George Washington University swimmer Megan Loock (Southbury, CT/Hopkins School) was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Monday for her performance last week against Richmond and Army.

The freshman recorded a first-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle event (17:52.43) and the 500-yard freestyle event (5:13.02) Saturday against Army at West Point, NY.

She also posted second place finishes Wednesday at Smith Center Pool against Richmond in the 500-yard freestyle event (5:14.78) and the 1000-yard freestyle event (10:43.53).

Megan is the first Colonial swimmer or diver this season to earn this honor.

GW competes in its final regular season meet Saturday when they travel to Fairfax, VA, to face George Mason University. The meet begins at 2:00 p.m.

The Atlantic 10 Championships are scheduled for Feb. 17-19 in Buffalo, NY.
