GW Diver Competes at Nationals

March 22, 2005

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN - George Washington University diver Katura Horton-Perinchief (Sandys, Bermuda / Richview Collegiate Institute (Toronto, ONT) finished 26th in the Platform, 31st in the three-meter and 32nd in the one-meter events at the NCAA Diving Championships held over the weekend at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center on the campus of Purdue University.

Horton-Perinchief became the first GW diver to qualify for nationals since Bobbie Ferraro did it in the 1989-90 season.

The NCAA Championships was the final meet for Horton-Perinchief as a Colonial. Her one season with George Washington was a spectacular one. The graduate student was named the 2005 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Diver after winning conference titles in both the one-meter and three-meter events.

Horton-Perinchief also broke the conference record this season in the one-meter and has reset the GW record in both the one-meter and three-meter dives. Along with earning all-conference in the two events, she also was named Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference.

Horton-Perinchief will earn a master's degree at GW in public health in either December 2005 or May 2006.
