WASHINGTON, DC - Four George Washington swimmers earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors the league office announced today. The women's team finished third in the Atlantic 10 this year while the men finished fourth. The three women selected to the team were Ruth Dubyel (West Point, NY/James I. O'Neill), Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Westminster) and Kirsten Rasmuson (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel). These three were joined by sophomore Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock).
Dubyel, a biological anthropology major, has a 3.66 GPA over her three year GW career. She was named to the First Team All-Conference this season setting two GW records in the 100-yd and 200-yd butterfly events at the Atlantic 10 Championships on 2/22. She finished first in the 200-yd butterfly at the A-10 Championships posting the second fastest time this season in 2:05.31. Dubyel also has the second fastest 100-yd butterfly time in the A-10 with a time of :56.14 set on 2/22. She had the seventh fastest A-10 time in the 100-yd backstroke at :58.83.
Fagley, an international business major, has a 3.75 GPA over her three year GW career. She was named to the First Team All-Conference this season taking first place in the 200-yd freestyle in a time of 1:52.93 at the Atlantic 10 Championships with the fastest A-10 time of the year. She finished second in the A-10 in the 500-yd freestyle on 2/22 with a time of 4:59.14. She had the ninth fastest A-10 time in the 200-yd backstroke with a time of 2:06.14.
Rasmuson, a political communications major, has a 3.67 GPA over her two year GW career. She had the third fastest Atlantic 10 time in the 100-yd breaststroke with a time of :56.14 on 2/22. She also recorded the seventh fastest A-10 time in the 200-yd breaststroke with a time of 2:24.95 set on 11/22. Additionally, she was a member of the women's 400-yd medley relay team that set a new school record with a time of 3:51.97. Dubyel was also on the relay team.
