Men's and Women's Swimming Defeat Duquesne

WASHINGTON, DC (October 28, 2000) - The George Washington men's and women's swimming and diving teams took a combined 21 first place finishes out of 22 events, defeating Duquesne, 124-62, and 129-79, respectively, on Saturday at Smith Center.

On the men's side, senior Wes Teter (Farmer's Branch, TX/RL Turner High) won two individual events, the 100-y free and the 50-y free, as well as the 400-y medley relay. Sophomore David Dillehay (Gallatin, TN/Gallatin) also won two events and a relay event, the 1000-y free,200-y fly and the 400-y free relay. Freshman Andrew De Sorbo (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury H.S.) finished first in two individual events, swimming in a time of 1:56.10 in the 200-y medley and winning the 200-y back with a time of 1:56.08. De Sorbo also was part of the teamwho won the 400-y medley relay.

Freshman Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, Fl/Westminster Academy) claimed two individual events: the 200-y free and the 100-y free. Freshman Crystal Freeman (Ft. Dix, NJ/Holy Cross H.S.) also won two individual events: the 500-y free and the 1000-y free. Fagley and Freeman teamed with sophomores Shannon Lynch (Medford, NJ/Lenape H.S.) and Ashley Orchard (Tamarac, FL/Pine Crest) to win the 400-y free relay as well.

GW's next meet is Saturday, November 4 as the teams host Virginia Tech at noon.
