Men's Swimming Defeated By Navy

WASHINGTON, DC (November 8, 2000) The George Washington men's swimming team fell to Navy, 157-80 on Wednesday, November 8 at Smith Center.

Freshman Ryan White (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy H.S.) continued to establish himself in the freestyle events by winning both races he competed in, the 200-y free and the 500-y free. Senior Alvaro Fortuny (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Colegio Interamericano) extended his undefeated streak in the breaststroke, winning the 200-yd heat by almost five seconds with a time of 2:07.93. Fortuny also teamed with senior Wes Teter (Farmer's Branch, TX/RL Turner) to win the 400-yd medley relay with a time of 3:33.66. Senior Jeremy Hoders (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) won the 1 meter diving competition with a score of 275.475.

The men's and women's teams will face La Salle at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11 at Smith Center.
