Nov. 21, 2005

FAIRFAX, VA - George Washington University freshman swimmer David Zenk (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis Country Day School) was named both the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week, the conference announced.

Zenk turned in an outstanding performance this past weekend at the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason University.

Zenk finished in front of 23 other swimmers to place first in the 200-yard individual medley (1:52.38).

He also took second place in the 400-yard medley (4:01.82) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (51.66 seconds).

The Rookie of the Week honor is Zenk's second of the season as he also earned the award Nov. 7th.

The Colonials return to action on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 1-2, at Auburn in the U.S. Open meet.

GW returns home on Saturday, Dec. 3, for a dual meet with Old Dominion beginning at 11:00 am.
