Moss Named A-10 Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week

Dec. 10, 2002

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's swimmer Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference has announced. Moss set a new Colonials record in the 200-yd backstroke with a time of 2:04.79 on Saturday, December 7.

Moss' first place finish in the 200-yd backstroke at Old Dominion University was more than seven seconds ahead of the next fastest finisher. The previous GW record was set last season by Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Westminster) with a time of 2:05.19.

In this weekend's meet against Old Dominion and Drexel, Moss also helped lead the Colonials to a win in the women's 400-yd medley relay with a time of 4:01.09. This marks the second time this season that Moss has been honored by the Atlantic 10. She received Co-Rookie of the Week honors to start the season.

Moss has made an immediate impact in her first semester as a student at The George Washington University. She set a pool record at James Madison University in her first collegiate dual meet on October 25. Moss swam the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 0:58.57.
