Men's Water Polo Holds Off Iona 9-7 in Opening Round of ECAC Championships

Cambridge, MA - The George Washington men's water polo team fell behind 6-4 on Saturday afternoon, but tightened up the defense in their 9-7 victory this weekend over Iona in the first round of the ECAC Championships in Cambridge, MA.
GW (5-5, 0-1 CWPA Southern Divisions) fell behind at halftime, but only allowed one goal in the second half en route to the victory. After falling behind 6-4 at halftime, the 5-1 second half score paced the victory for the Colonials.
Senior Dave Zenk and freshman Cray Rogers each had two goals each and goalkeeper Alex Sotolongo recorded seven saves. GW now advances to the semifinals of the ECAC Championships where they will face off against Johns Hopkins. The match is set to begin at 8:00 p.m EST.
