Men's Water Polo Falls To #14 Princeton, 12-7

Sept. 21, 2001

WASHINGTON, DC (Sept. 21) - The GW water polo team surprised 14th-ranked Princeton with a quick 5-1 lead behind three first-period goals from sophomore Pat Dodge (Ballwin, MO/Parkway West) but the Colonials couldn't stop Tigers' junior Robert Urquhart who scorched the Colonials defense with 10 of Princeton's 12 goals Friday at GW's Smith Center.

"We didn't adjust defensively to their adjustments and we let one guy control the game," GW coach Scott Reed said. "We were tentative on the perimeter."

Colonials' goalkeeper Chris Blick (Houston, TX/Clear Lake) made several key saves as GW got a goal each from Spencer Hugret (Guilford, CT/Hopkins), Josh Gimpelson (Ballwin, MO/Parkway West) and Gur Doitel (Woodside, CA/Saratoga).

Princeton (4-0) was led by Urquhart's 10 goals and two by junior Kevin Foster.

GW (3-2) travels to Bucknell Sunday before next weekend's North/South Invitational, Sept. 29-30, at Princeton.

Scoring by quarters:
1 2 3 4 TOTAL
Princeton 1 4 3 4 - 12
GW 5 1 1 0 - 7
