Johns Hopkins Tops Men's Water Polo, 10-3

Sept. 29, 2005

BALTIMORE, MD - The George Washington men's water polo team fell to Johns Hopkins, 10-3, Wednesday evening in Baltimore in CWPA conference action. Sophomore Chris Whittam (Hillsborough, CA) led the Colonials with 12 saves in the cage, while junior John Hornberger (Houston, TX) scored his 23rd goal of the season to pace the squad offensively.

Johns Hopkins scored on its very first possession to take a 1-0 lead, but GW immediately countered with a goal of its own to knot the score at 1-1. That would be as close as the Colonials would get the rest of the way.

The Blue Jays went on an offensive tear from that point and reeled off seven unanswered goals to virtually put the game out of reach. GW did not score its second goal until the third period.

Senior co-captain Anthony Guadagni (Visalia, CA) and sophomore Nick Eddy (La Jolla, CA) also chipped in with a goal apiece to lead the Colonials.

GW (6-7) returns to action when it travels to Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, Oct. 1, to face Bucknell at 10:45 a.m. and Salem International at 3 p.m.
