PRINCETON, N.J. -- The George Washington men's water polo team dropped its regular-season finale to No. 12 Princeton, 18-9, on Sunday afternoon in the regular-season finale at the Tigers' DeNunzio Pool.
Sophomore Pierce Deamer and freshman Austin Pyrch led the Colonials with two goals apiece, and Deamer added an assist and a pair of ejections drawn. Senior Jonah Dowd tallied two points on a goal and an assist while picking up a team-high three steals, and senior goalkeeper Connor Dillon recorded 10 saves in the cage.
The score remained close throughout the first quarter, and the game was tied, 3-3, with 1:18 remaining before Princeton tallied the final two goals of the period to take a 5-3 lead. The Tigers, however, began to pull away with a 5-1 second frame to take a 10-4 halftime advantage, then broke the game open with a 6-1 third quarter for a 16-5 lead.
