GW Men's Water Polo Begins Preseason Practice
Colonials Begin Preparation for Sept. 7 Season Opener
Aug 21, 2013
WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's water polo team returned to the Charles E. Smith Center Pool for preseason training on Tuesday in preparation for its 32nd season of competition.
The Colonials will practice twice a day leading up to their Sept. 7 season opener at the Navy Open.
"The first session went fantastic," said 15th-year Head Coach Scott Reed. "The guys are tired, they worked hard - it was exactly what we expected. It was a good practice."
GW returns 88 percent of an offense that scored over 300 goals in 2012 for the second straight season, including honorable mention All-American and CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Year Bogdan Petkovic, as well as senior Daniel Tyner and junior Brian Mojica, who tied for the team lead with 74 points apiece last season.
The Colonials open the 2013 campaign at the Navy Open Sept. 7-8. GW hosts four league matches at the Smith Center Pool, including a doubleheader against Navy and Princeton on Sunday, Sept. 22.
