Sept. 8, 2005

BRIDGEPORT, PA - Freshman David Zenk was selected as the CWPA's Southern Division Player of the Week on Wednesday, Sept. 7 for his performance at the Navy Open last weekend. Zenk had a phenomenal collegiate debut, recording 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) and making 16 steals to help the Colonials begin the year 2-2.

Zenk scored three goals and tallied three assists in GW's win over Iona on Sept. 4, preceded by a hat trick in the Colonials' win versus Penn State Behrend on Sept. 3. Versus nationally ranked Pacific, Zenk scored two goals and he posted a goal and three assists against No. 12 Saint Francis (NY). Zenk leads the Colonials in points, goals, assists, steals and sprints won through four games.

The Southern Division is comprised of two regions. GW, Bucknell, Johns Hopkins, Princeton and Navy make up the Eastern Region, while Gannon, Mercyhurst, Penn State Behrend, Salem International, Slippery Rock and Washington & Jefferson make up the Western Region.

The Colonials return to action this weekend. GW will play in five matches at the Princeton Invitational from Sept. 9-11.
