Illes Tabbed CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week
Freshman Goalkeeper Totaled 26 Saves in Four Games

BRIDGEPORT, PA - George Washington freshman goalkeeper Cameron Illes was chosen the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Southern Division Rookie of the Week Tuesday after totaling 26 saves to help the Colonials to a 2-2 mark at the Navy Open last weekend.
Illes capped an impressive debut weekend with 11 saves, including a penalty block, two steals and an assist to guide GW to a 10-6 victory over Queens (NY) in its Navy Open finale Sunday. He also added four blocks with just one goal allowed and an assist in two quarters of action in an 8-6 win over Mercyhurst Saturday.
In 10 quarters of action over four games, Illes totaled 26 saves, three steals and two assists. A four-year All-State selection at Pittsburgh's North Allegheny High, Illes earned Second Team All-America honors from NISCA as a senior in 2008.
GW (2-2) returns to Annapolis, MD, and the Navy campus this Friday, Sept. 11, to face Preseason Varsity No. 10 UC-San Diego at 3:45 pm. The Colonials then play four games in two days at the Princeton Invitational, including Preseason No. 15 Santa Clara on Sunday.
