Men's Water Polo's Levai Named Rookie of the Week
Freshman honored after Princeton Invitational
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington’s Andras Levai has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Mid-Atlantic Rookie of the Week, the league announced Thursday.
Levai continued his strong start at last week’s Princeton Invitational, posting eight goals and three assist over four games against top competition. The Hungary native also added a team-best 11 steals. He scored twice in a loss to No. 4 UCLA and four times in GW's lone win of the weekend against Iona.
Levai leads the 17th-ranked Colonials in steals (14) and is tied for the team-high in goals (17) and points (24) through seven games this season.
Atakan Destici earned a spot on the Player of the Week honor roll after racking up six goals and seven assists at last weekend’s event.
GW (4-3) is back in action this weekend at the Bucknell Invitational.
