WASHINGTON – Following a successful weekend that included a win over then-No. 15 Air Force, the George Washington men’s water polo team climbed into the Varsity Top 20 national rankings at No. 19 on Wednesday.

The Colonials are ranked for the first time since 2014, when they reached a season high ranking of No. 18.

GW is one of two Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-East Region programs in the current Top 20, along with No. 15 Bucknell. Fellow CWPA rival United States Navy also received votes.

GW went 2-1 at the Princeton Invitational last weekend, including a 12-11 overtime victory against No. 15 Air Force. The win over Air Force marks GW’s first over a ranked opponent since a 19-18, overtime win against St. Francis (NY) on September 7, 2014.
