Rookie Driver Totaled Eight Goals in Four Games for Colonials

BRIDGEPORT, PA - George Washington freshman driver Cray Rogers was named Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Rogers totaled eight goals in four games last week, including three goals in the ECAC Championship third-place game against Bucknell on Sunday.
For the week, Rogers converted 8-of-10 shot attempts and added two assists and five steals for GW (5-7, 0-1 CWPA Southern Division). He had two goals and two steals in an 18-8 loss at No. 13 Navy on Sept. 17.
Rogers had two goals, two assists and a steal to help the second-seeded Colonials top Iona, 9-7, in Saturday's ECAC Championship opener. He then added a goal and steal in a 10-9 loss to No. 20 Johns Hopkins later Saturday before netting a team-high-tying three goals in a 9-8 loss to the Bison on Sunday.
Rogers is third on the team with 14 goals, converting a team-best 54 percent of his attempts. He also ranks third on the team in points (21), assists (7) and steals (14).
GW hosts a pair of CWPA Southern Division contests at Charles E. Smith Center Pool this weekend, beginning with Bucknell Saturday at 7:00 pm. The Colonials then host No. 18 Princeton Sunday at 12:00 pm.
