Oct. 3, 2013
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington men's water polo sophomore goalkeeper Connor Dillon was named CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week for games played Sept. 23-29, the league announced on Thursday.
Dillon recorded eight saves and added an assist in No. 17 GW's 13-11 win over then-No. 20 Johns Hopkins on Saturday. The victory improved the Colonials to 9-2 overall and 3-1 against Southern Division opponents, their best start in Head Coach Scott Reed's 15-year tenure.
For the season, the Los Gatos, Calif., native has recorded 75 saves and a .446 save percentage, and he has allowed just 8.45 goals per game in 11 contests.
The award marks the second weekly honor of Dillon's career, as he also earned the season's first Defensive Player of the Week award.
Dillon and the Colonials return to the pool on Thursday, when they open their annual West Coast trip at California Baptist at 10 p.m. ET, their first of five games in Southern California this week.
