GW's Deamer Earns Second Rookie of the Week Nod
Freshman Notched Fifth Hat Trick Versus Johns Hopkins
Oct. 17, 2014
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington freshman Pierce Deamer was named Southern Division Rookie of the Week, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced on Friday. The award covers games played from Oct. 6-12.
Deamer notched his fifth hat trick of the season on Saturday evening against Johns Hopkins, and he added two steals and a team-best three ejections drawn. The native of South Pasadena, California, scored GW's first two goals to give the Colonials an early 2-1 lead over the Blue Jays, and his third goal came during GW's pivotal 4-0 second quarter.
For the season, Deamer leads the team with 34 ejections drawn and ranks third with 29 goals and fourth with 39 points, 15 steals and eight field blocks.
The award is the second of the season for Deamer, who also received the honor on Sept. 15. He is the first Colonial to earn multiple Rookie of the Week nods since now-junior Bogdan Petkovic also garnered two in 2012.
Deamer and the Colonials return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22, when they visit Southern Division rival Johns Hopkins.
