Wright Finishes Career Fifth at GW With 203 Career Goals

BRIDGEPORT, PA - George Washington men's water polo senior John-Claude Wright was named CWPA Southern Division Co-Player of the Week Tuesday after helping the Colonials to fifth place at the league's Southern Championship last weekend.
Wright totaled seven goals on 7-of-17 shooting with eight assists, 10 steals and 10 ejections drawn in three games at Southerns. He concluded his final season with 71 goals to rank among the CWPA and NCAA national leaders, while his 109 points (71g/38a) this season were the fifth-most in a single season in program history.
He posted a goal, assist and five ejections drawn in a 12-5 loss to Johns Hopkins University in the opening round before tallying hat tricks in victories over Washington & Jefferson and Gannon for a fifth-place finish. He tacked on four assists, seven steals and three ejections drawn against the Presidents before adding three assists, three steals and two ejections drawn against the Golden Knights in the fifth-place game.
Wright capped his career with 203 goals, good for fifth all-time in program history. He also ranks second all-time with 31 field blocks and seventh all-time in both assists (93) and steals (154).
GW won its last two games to place fifth at the Southern Championship and finish 9-22 overall in 2009.
