GW's Petkovic Named to All-South First Team for Third Time
Junior Becomes Colonials' First-Ever Three-Time First-Team Honoree
Nov. 21, 2014
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - George Washington men's water polo junior Bogdan Petkovic was named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Southern Division First Team for the third year in a row, the league announced on Friday after the Colonials' 11-8 win in the opening game of the CWPA Championship.
Petkovic is the first Colonial ever to earn three first-team accolades and just the second to be named to an all-league team three times, joining Patrick Dodge, who was recognized four times from 2000-03, including twice on the first team.
Petkovic entered the weekend with a team-high 90 points (50g, 40a), 73 steals and 18 field blocks to go with 31 ejections drawn, which ranked second on the team.
The central defender is the program's all-time leader with 66 field blocks and ranks second all-time at GW with 244 career steals.
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Petkovic was named Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week twice this season and is the first male player in CWPA history to earn Player, Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week in his career.
