GW's Bogdan Petkovic Earns CWPA First Team All-South Honors
Sophomore Tabbed to First Team for Second Straight Season
Nov. 22, 2013
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - George Washington men's water polo sophomore Bogdan Petkovic was named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Southern Division First Team, the league announced on Friday after the Colonials' 5-3 win in the opening game of the CWPA Championship.
The 2012 CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Year, Petkovic is just the second Colonial - and first since Patrick Dodge in 2002 and 2003 - to earn multiple first-team accolades.
Petkovic entered the weekend with a program-record 27 field blocks and a team-high 66 steals on the season, and he ranked second on the squad with 50 goals, 32 assists and 82 points and third with 21 ejections drawn.
The central defender already ranks fourth all-time at GW with 162 steals and second with 45 field blocks after just two seasons.
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Petkovic was named Southern Division co-Player of the Week on Sept. 19.
The CWPA All-Southern Division Team is voted on by the division's 12 head coaches based on nominations from each team, with the coaches choosing 14 players for All-South distinction.
