Women's Cross Country Notches Second Straight Victory at Towson Invitational

TOWSON, MD - For the second consecutive meet, the George Washington women's cross country team had its top five runners finish among the top 15 to record its second straight victory Saturday morning with 43 points at the Towson Invitational. The GW men's team placed eighth overall out of 14 teams, led by sophomore Daniel Morgan's (Danville, KY/Boyle County) 28th-place showing. The Colonial women were led by top-10 finishes from seniors Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Trina Bolton (Avondale Estates, GA/The Lovett School), and freshman Erynne Jones (Upland, CA/Upland). Jadwin led the way finishing the 5K course in 19:15 to place seventh, followed by Bolton in eighth at 19:20. Jones, junior Lindsay Blum (Holland, PA/Council Rock) and freshman Michelle Concannon (LaGrangeville, NY/Arlington) finished 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively, to cap the scoring for GW. Sophomores Bridget Skeuse (Stockton, NJ/Immaculata) and Taylor Leavitt (Turner, ME/Leavitt Area) also finished among the top 25. Skeuse finished 14th (19:39), while Leavitt placed 21st (19:50). Morgan, competing in his first meet of the season, covered the Oregon Ridge 8K course in 27:58 to place 28th overall out of 131 finishers to pace the Colonial men. GW's next three finishers were all freshmen as Christian Woodside (Edmond, OK/Edmond Memorial), Jeff Scranton (South Windsor, CT/South Windsor) and John Woodside (Edmond, OK/Edmond Memorial), the Colonials' top finisher last week, placed 51st (29:00), 56th (29:19) and 58th (29:23), respectively. Senior Art Rowbotham (Lakeland, FL/Portsmouth Abbey) completed the scoring at 61st with a time of 29:27. The Colonials return to action next weekend when they travel to Emmitsburg, MD, on Saturday, Sept. 18, for the Mount St. Mary's Invitational at 11 a.m.
