Women's Cross Country Team Places Fifth and Men's Team Places Eighth at Navy Invitational

Annapolis, MD - Freshman Lindsay Blum (Holland, PA/Council Rock) finished 20th out of 145 runners to lead the GW Women's Cross Country team to a fifth place finish out of 12 teams at the Navy Invitational today in Annapolis, MD. Junior Darrel Andruski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) finished 16th out of 125 runners to help the men's team finish eighth out of 15 teams. In her first race as a Colonial, Blum finished in 19:40.47, shortly behind race winner Samia Akbar of American. Junior Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) also had a strong showing with a time of 20:03.99. Sophomores Erin Patton (Saline, MI/Saline), Mary Beth McCullough (Brentwood, TN/Father Ryan) and Mary Caterina Bolton (Avondale Estates, GA/The Lovett School) rounded out the top finishers for GW. On the men's side, Andruski completed the 8,000m course in 25:43.49, under a minute off the pace set by race winner Aaron Lanzel of Navy. Junior Dave Azari (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) and Senior David Talbird (Lookout Mountain, TN/McCallie School) turned in solid performances finishing 36th and 37th, respectively. Freshmen Phil Sherman (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) and Alex Brooket (York, PA/York Suburban) completed the list of GW's top finishers.
