Women's Cross Country Team Places First and Men's Team Places Fourth at Mount St. Mary's Invitational

Emmitsburg, MD - Freshman Lindsay Blum (Holland, PA/Council Rock) finished first out of 84 runners to lead the GW Women's Cross Country team to a first place finish out of seven teams at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational today in Emmitsburg, MD. Junior Darrell Andruski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) finished ninth out of 85 runners to help the men's team finish fourth out of nine teams. Living up to expectations, Blum finished in 19:16.22 to win only her second race as a Colonial. Blum was followed closely by sophomores Mary Beth McCullough (Brentwood, TN/Father Ryan), Erin Patton (Saline, MI/Saline) and Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), who finished ninth, tenth and 11th, respectively. Freshman Shelly Bury (Shorewood, MN/Minnetonka) also turned in a strong performance, finishing 13th. On the men's side, Andruski completed the Mount St. Mary's course in 26:29.26, under a minute off the pace set by race winner Mark Stallings of Millersville. Andruski finished just ahead of teammates junior Dave Azari (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury), who finished 11th with a time of 26:36.11, and senior David Talbird (Lookout Mountain, TN/McCallie School), who finished 16th with a time of 26:54.61. Freshman Phil Sherman (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) also contributed to the men's team finishing 42nd.
