CENTREVILLE, VA - Freshman Bridget Skeuse (Stockton, NJ/Immaculata) finished eighth out of 160 runners to lead the GW women's cross country team to a third place finish at the George Washington Invitational on Saturday, September 27 at Bull Run Park. Senior Dave Azari (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) completed the race in 22nd place out of 168 runners to lead the men's team to a fifth place finish.
Skeuse finished the 5K course in 19:34.5, just three seconds ahead of sophomore Trina Bolton (Avondale Estates, GA/The Lovett School), who finished in 10th place. Senior Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) was the next finisher for the Colonials in 17th place. Junior Erin Patton (Saline, MI/Saline) ran well for the Colonials, finishing in 23rd place and fellow junior Mary Beth McCullough (Brentwood, TN/Father Ryan) battled through a foot injury to score the final points for GW.
On the men's side, Azari continued to lead the Colonials, this time against a very tough field, finishing the 8K course in 26:57.7. Senior Darrell Andruski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), battling a nagging injury, finished just two spots behind Azari in 24th place. Freshman Ryan Shaver (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) finished third for the Colonials in the third straight race. Sophomore Phil Sherman (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) and freshman Ian Hajek (San Diego, CA/(Home Schooled)) rounded out the scoring for GW.
