Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth At GW Invitational, Women 10th

CENTREVILLE, VA (September 29, 2001) - Junior David Talbird (Lookout Mountain, TN/McCallie School) finished ninth out of 126 runners in the men's race and freshman Mary Beth McCullough (Brentwood, TN/Father Ryan) finished 34th out of 128 runners in the women's race to lead the Colonials to a fourth and tenth place overall finish at the GW Invitational this afternoon, Sept. 29, in Centreville, VA.

Talbird finished in 26:04, 47 seconds behind race winner, Nickie Peters of Coppin State. Sophomore David Azari (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) beat his personal best time by more than a minute with a 26:17, which was good for 16th place. Freshman Timothy Persico (Shavertown, PA/Scranton Prep) had a solid showing finishing in 43rd place with a 27:05. Sophomore Darrell Andruski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), competing for the first time this season due to injury, finished in 27:37 and in 59th place.

On the women's side, McCullough led a group of four Colonials that placed in the top 55. McCullough continued her strong rookie campaign by finishing in a time of 19:39. Senior Jenee Peterson (Latham, NY/Shaker) had her strongest performance of the year by placing 43rd with a time of 19:50. Freshman Erin Patton (Saline, MI/Saline) placed 48th with a time of 19:56 and sophomore Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Rutgers University) placed 53rd with a time of 19:59.
