Bolton, Jadwin Lead Women's Cross Country To Victory At Mason Invitational

CENTREVILLE, VA - George Washington University seniors Trina Bolton (Avondale Estates, GA) and Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ) finished second and third, respectively, to lead the Colonials' women to their fifth consecutive victory of the season Saturday morning with 40 points at the George Mason Invitational at Bull Run Park. The GW men placed fifth out of six teams with 123 points, led by sophomore Daniel Morgan's (Danville, KY) 15th-place finish. On the women's side, the Colonials' top five scorers all placed among the top 15 finishers on the 5K course. American placed second (59), followed by VCU in third (82). GW was competing at Bull Run Park for the second straight week after serving as host of last weekend's GW Invitational. Bolton easily posted a season-best time of 19:01.85 to finish second overall out of 81 finishers, while Jadwin crossed the finish line right behind her in 19:29.26. Freshman Michelle Concannon (LaGrangeville, NY) notched her fourth top-10 finish in her debut season with a ninth-place showing in 19:51.21. Classmate Erynne Jones (Upland, CA) placed 11th in 19:58.91, followed by junior Lindsay Blum (Holland, PA) in 15th at 20:11.17 to complete the scoring for GW. Morgan placed 15th overall out of 59 finishers in 27:29.65 over the 8K course to pace the GW men for the fourth consecutive meet. Freshmen Jeff Scranton (South Windsor, CT) and Christian Woodside (Edmond, OK) were the Colonials' next highest finishers, placing 31st (28:27.75) and 32nd (28:29.28), respectively. Senior Alex Kim (Scarsdale, NY) was also right there finishing 33rd in 28:31.54, followed closely behind by freshman John Woodside (Edmond, OK) with a mark of 28:34.76 to claim 34th.
George Washington will have a week off to rest before returning to competition at the National Invitational hosted by Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. in State College, PA.
