Men's Cross Country Team Places 17th, Women 16th at NCAA Regionals

CANAAN VALLEY, WV - The GW Cross Country team competed at the NCAA Regionals on November 16. Junior Darrell Andruski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) finished 68th out of 177 runners to lead the men's squad to a 17th place finish out of 26 teams. Freshman Lindsay Blum (Holland, PA/Council Rock) finished 58th out of 188 runners to help the women finish 16th out of 27 teams. Andruski completed the 10K race in 32:30, behind race winner Mike Smith of Georgetown. Junior Dave Azari (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) finished just after Andruski in 70th place followed by senior David Talbird (Lookout Mountain, TN/McCallie School). Senior Matt Kascak (Summerville, SC/Summerville) and freshman Phil Sherman (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) were the next finishers for the Colonials. On the women's side, Blum finished the 6K course in a time of 22:57, behind winner Megan Metcalfe of West Virginia. Sophomore Mary Beth McCullough (Brentwood, TN/Father Ryan) finished next for the Colonials in a time of 23:53 followed closely by fellow sophomores Erin Patton (Saline, MI/Saline) and Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape). Sophomore Trina Bolton (Avondale Estates, GA/The Lovett School) was the fifth finisher for the Colonials. The Colonials finished what coach Deb Cane considered a successful season and will now prepare for the spring.
