Cross Country Adds Chris Pisano to Recruiting Class

May 4, 2005

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University cross country program has signed four-time all-state cross country performer Chris Pisano (Toms River, NJ) to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Brian Beil announced on Wednesday, May 4. Pisano will begin his eligibility at GW with the start of the Colonials' 2005 cross country season.

"I believe Chris to be the most talented distance runner coming out of New Jersey this year," Beil said. "He was the fastest junior in the state in 2004, and I have no doubts he will become one of the leaders of this program and make a positive impact right away."

Pisano owns personal-bests of 2:02 in the 800m, 4:20.16 in the 1600m, 9:28 in the 3200m and 15:10.88 in the 5000m.

This past Fall during the cross country season, the senior from Toms River North High posted a career-best runner-up finish at the New Jersey State Group IV Championship. He also placed 18th at the state all group meet of champions, his third straight top 30 showing.

Thus far this track season, Pisano has a ninth-place finish in the 3200m at the state group IV indoor championships, and most recently, he was the top high school finisher in the 5000m at The College of New Jersey Lions' Outdoor Invitational on April 30 with a personal-best time of 15:10.88. He placed fourth overall, just behind a post-collegiate runner and a pair of collegians.

As a junior, Pisano finished ninth at the state cross country all group meet of champions, after placing sixth overall at the state cross country group IV championships to lead Toms River North to a runner-up finish at the meet.

During the track season, Pisano recorded his personal-bests in the 1600m and 3200m at the same meet at the state group IV outdoor championship. He finished with marks of 4:20.16 in the 1600m and 9:28 in the 3200m, respectively, to finish seventh in each race.

Pisano also had a successful cross country season as a sophomore, as he recorded a top 15 finish at the state group IV championship to help lead Toms River North to the group IV title.
