Men's Cross Country Places Third at Navy; Women Fifth

ANNAPOLIS, MD (Sept. 9, 2000) - GW freshman Darrell Andruski finished 15th out of 60 runners in leading the Colonials to a third-place finish in the six-team Navy Cross Country Invitational Saturday in Annapolis, MD.

Andruski crossed the finish line virtually the same time as Maryland's Mike Prada and 52 seconds off the pace set by Navy's Justin Mikolay who won the meet in 25:10. Navy runners captured the first 10 places in the five-mile race.

Fellow Colonials David Talbird (26:16) and sophomore Matt Kascak (26:18) also had strong showings placing 17th and 18th, respectively.

On the women's side, junior Jenee Peterson paced GW with a time of 22:24.70 over the 5,000-meter course, placing 23rd out of 63 entrants. Colonials senior Brande Dietrich was 33rd with a time of 23:22.40 followed closely by sophomore Mackenzie Jesson (23:39.00).
