Sept. 28, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University men's and women's cross country teams will make the short trip to Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville, VA, to compete at the Mason Invitational on Saturday, September 29. The meet will begin with the women's 6K, slated for a 10:00 am. start time, while the men's 8K will get underway at 10:45 am.

This year's field includes several top teams from their respective regions in the country. Three ranked teams from GW's Mid-Atlantic Region will compete, including 5th-ranked Navy, 8th-ranked American, and 11th-ranked Maryland. The Charlotte 49ers, an Atlantic 10 rival, and 14th-ranked in the Southeast Region, also will make the trip, along with Miami (OH), 9th-ranked in the Great Lakes Region. In addition to the host Patriots, also competing are Campbell, UNC-Wilmington, Trinity and Albany.

The Colonials opened their season August 31, at the Mount St. Mary's 5K Duals and were led by freshman on both squads. Jessica Stern finished fifth overall in her collegiate debut in 19:59.89 to lead the women, while Zach Borenstein finished in 16:39.52 (11th overall) to lead the men.
