Cross Country Heads To Belmont Plateau for 2007 Atlantic 10 Championships

Oct. 25, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC - The men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the Atlantic 10 Championships at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, October 27. The 30th annual Men's Cross Country Championship will begin at 10:00am on Belmont Plateau's 8,000-meter course, while the 19th annual Women's Cross Country Championship will commence at 10:45am.

Led by juniors Audrey Noonan for the women and Chris Pisano for the men, both squads will look to improve on their 10th place finishes in 2006.

Noonan finished seventh individually at last year's conference championship in a GW record 18:19.2. The two-time Carnegie Mellon Invitational champion earned All-Conference accolades for her efforts. The Barrington, RI, native should be followed closely by senior Mae Polhemus, sophomore Meaghan Smith, freshmen Jessica Stern and Laura Petrik, as well as seniors Michelle Concannon and Katie Walsh.

Pisano is coming off back-to-back top 10 finishes at the Monmouth and Carnegie Mellon Invitational and should be among the front-runners once again on Saturday. The native of Toms River, NJ will be supported by freshman Zach Borenstein, juniors Collin Stevenson and Keith Moody, sophomores Robbie Lockhart, Andrew Coleman and Stephen Rutgers, as well as seniors Mark Drath, Joe Altenau and Christian Woodside.
