Jake Wald joined the George Washington baseball staff as Director of Baseball Operations in January 2011. He joined the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach at the start of the 2012 season .
Wald was a three-year letterwinner for the George Washington baseball team from 2000-02 and was a member of the Colonials' 2002 A-10 Championship team.
The San Francisco Giants drafted Wald with the 337th pick in the 11th round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. The shortstop started 62 games and made just 18 errors in 279 chances during his junior season while batting .333 with 12 home runs, 17 doubles, and 52 RBIs. He also the team with 67 runs scored and 22 stolen bases.
In his final season Wald was named to the Atlantic 10 Baseball All-Conference second team and to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team.
